SMART-AIR aims at elaborating fit-for-purpose reference materials and optimizing measurement conditions to retrieve the concentration of Pb, As, Cd and Ni in PM filters by XRF under GI and LIBS, and validating the results with ICP, a complementary technique. Those techniques will be correlated to assess the reliability and accuracy of the procedures, and of the elemental content determined. . The goal is to build up a consistent quality management system, ensuring the traceability and reliability of the of the methodologies employed. It also seeks to disseminate the results obtained and to feed them in various normative frameworks for air quality monitoring. Reference filters samples of aerosol’s analogues and emission conditions will be produced via particles aerosol using different organic matrices such as Latex or microplastic mixed with soluble salts of the selected metals. The focus of the project is to provide SOP for the determination of target elements concentration in PM emissions, environment and workplaces air based on adequate sample preparation methods and a combination of methodologies for the determination of the concentrations of target elements in PM emissions, environment and workplaces based.
